Abstract

This paper deals with publications of the Institute for Oriental Studies in Sarajevo and their importance in the study of our cultural heritage as one of the tasks of this scientific and research institution in 60 years of its existence and work. With the publications of the Institute for Oriental Studies – the journal Prilozi za orijentalnu filologiju (POF) and editions Monumenta Turcica Historiam Slavorum Meridionalium Illustrantia and Posebna izdanja – the results of the scientific and research work have been presented to the academic and general public. With 59 published issues of the journal POF, 12 books in the Monumenta Turcica series and 34 books in Posebna izdanja series, the Institute for Oriental Studies belongs to the prominent scientific and research institutions in the field of Oriental Studies in a way that corresponds o our academic and specialized circles, that is, in the study of the written heritage in Oriental languages and the general and cultural history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and surrounding regions during the Ottoman rule. Certain books from the Posebna izdanja series were published in translations to English or Arabic and thus the results of the research became available to use in academic circles both in the English and Arabic language areas.
