Abstract

One of the major decisive roles in the considerable Ottoman progress in history was the Ottoman settlement in Rumelia which strengthened the Empire’s scope of strategic power further. The Ottoman strategies employed to establish the control of Rumelia was in part a deliberate policy. Geographic, political and economic reasons placed a premium upon the determination process about the Ottoman strategies for maintaining control Rumelia. To this end, increased attention was placed on the Ottoman awareness of the benefits spawned by the Beylik’s geographical and regional settlement, the periphery of the Byzantium political turmoil and a variety of opportunities presented by the fertile and rich areas of Rumelia. Therefore, it is quite clear to assess the validity of the Ottoman political stand-with its comparative reference to the modern time international relationships- in view of the Byzantium internal struggles to ascend the throne. Besides, it is also largely well-justified reality that no one can ignore the significant contribution given, to varying degrees, by other Müslim Turkish Beylik’s. In conclusion, it was the Ottoman effective political strategies fulfilled in Rumelia that greatly contributed to identify the chief characteristics of the rising of a North West Anatolian Beylik as an impressive world empire with İstanbul, its Capital.
